Course purpose
This advanced course equips learners to plan and support financial investigations that cross national borders. It explains how to map jurisdictions, select authorised cooperation channels, preserve and obtain evidence, distinguish intelligence from evidence, trace and secure assets, manage translations and use restrictions, and coordinate parallel activity. The course does not confer public powers or replace advice from competent authorities and local counsel.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Map the jurisdictions, actors, assets, data and legal decisions engaged by an international financial investigation.
2. Distinguish informal cooperation, financial-intelligence exchange, regulatory channels and formal legal assistance.
3. Prepare precise preservation and evidence-request packages that respect authority, proportionality and permitted use.
4. Integrate cross-border asset tracing with timely restraint, confiscation, recovery and victim-remedy planning.
5. Coordinate a secure, reviewable multi-jurisdiction case plan and report limitations without overstating foreign evidence.
