Course purpose
This advanced course develops a disciplined method for preparing financial-investigation reports. It begins with mandate, audience and decision needs; builds a traceable report architecture; converts workpapers and quantified schedules into findings; and applies fairness, confidentiality and quality controls before issue. Learners practise separating fact, analysis, inference and opinion so that an independent reader can understand what was examined, what the evidence supports and what remains unresolved.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Design a report architecture that aligns the mandate, audience, issues, evidence and required decisions.
2. Create a traceable evidence-to-finding chain using reliable citations, schedules, exhibits and defined terms.
3. Draft balanced findings that distinguish verified fact, analysis, inference, opinion and legal characterisation.
4. Communicate quantified impact, limitations, recommendations and management responses without overstating certainty.
5. Apply factual, technical, legal, fairness, security and release controls to a final investigation report.
