Course purpose
This course introduces forensic accounting as the disciplined application of accounting, finance, investigation, analysis and communication to questions that may be examined by management, counsel, regulators, insurers, tribunals or courts. It develops a practical workflow for defining the question, securing suitable information, reconstructing events, testing explanations and reporting what the evidence does and does not support.

1. Explain the role and boundaries of forensic accounting and distinguish it from adjacent professional services.
2. Convert a concern or dispute into bounded questions, a documented mandate and a proportionate evidence plan.
3. Reconstruct transactions and communicate supported findings, assumptions and limitations without overstatement.
