Course purpose
This course develops jurisdiction-sensitive legal literacy for forensic-accounting work. It shows how authority, privacy, confidentiality, privilege, employment rights, evidence preservation, disclosure and expert duties shape an engagement from acceptance to reporting. It does not teach legal practice; it equips the practitioner to identify legal dependencies, obtain appropriate advice and maintain a defensible record of authorised decisions.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Map engagement authority, individual rights, confidentiality and reporting duties to proposed procedures.
2. Design an authorised evidence-preservation, collection, handling and disclosure protocol.
3. Distinguish factual assistance, expert opinion and legal conclusions and report within the practitioner’s role.
