Course purpose
This course explains how forensic accounting supports corporate governance without displacing the responsibilities of the governing body, management, internal audit, external audit, legal counsel or regulators. It equips learners to recognize governance conditions that permit financial misconduct, translate board concerns into a properly authorized inquiry, test the integrity of information reaching decision-makers and report findings in a form that supports accountable action. The focus is on mandate, independence, evidence, related parties, management override, escalation, remediation and follow-up. A forensic accountant informs governance decisions; the forensic accountant does not become the board, determine legal guilt or accept management’s risk.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Explain how governing bodies, management, control functions, assurance providers and forensic accountants contribute distinct but connected roles.
2. Convert governance concerns into an independent, proportionate forensic mandate that protects evidence, fairness and reporting integrity.
3. Present findings, financial effects and remediation priorities so authorized decision-makers can oversee action and verify closure.
