Course purpose
This course introduces forensic-accounting work in financial technology environments. It explains how mobile wallets, instant payments, payment gateways, application programming interfaces, digital onboarding and virtual assets change the form, speed and location of financial evidence. Learners map transaction lifecycles, reconcile platform and bank records, test identity and access events, preserve system data and interpret virtual-asset activity without treating technology output as self-proving. The course emphasizes authorization, data provenance, time normalization, model limitations, customer protection and rapid escalation. It does not train learners to penetrate systems, seize devices, determine regulatory status or provide specialist blockchain, cyber-security or legal conclusions.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Map a FinTech product, participants, accounts, ledgers, interfaces, settlement cycle and evidence sources into a testable transaction model.
2. Reconstruct digital-payment and virtual-asset activity using controlled data, identity, device, authorization and funds-flow evidence.
3. Evaluate anomalies, quantify financial effects and report supported conclusions with appropriate technical, legal and regulatory boundaries.
