Course purpose
This course integrates forensic-accounting thinking with enterprise risk management. It shows how to anchor risk assessment to objectives, describe plausible fraud and financial-misconduct scenarios, evaluate inherent and residual exposure, design preventive and detective controls, establish indicators and escalation thresholds and learn from investigations. The forensic accountant contributes evidence, transaction analysis, scenario testing and readiness; management owns risk and controls, the governing body oversees material exposure and independent assurance retains its proper role. Heat maps and scores support judgement but do not replace it.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Translate objectives, context, appetite and risk criteria into specific forensic-accounting risk scenarios and evidence needs.
2. Assess fraud and financial-misconduct risks using structured likelihood, impact, velocity, control and data-quality analysis.
3. Design and monitor proportionate responses, indicators, escalation and forensic-readiness measures with clear ownership and assurance boundaries.
