Course purpose
This Advanced course develops the judgement needed to select, configure, govern and assure technology used across the investigative lifecycle. Learners translate investigative requirements into system controls; design secure intake, assignment, evidence, task, interview, issue, decision, reporting and remediation workflows; govern integrations, exports and collaboration; evaluate dashboards, analytics, automation and artificial intelligence; and plan validation, resilience, incident response, migration and defensible disposal. Technology is treated as an enabling control environment rather than a substitute for professional judgement. The course does not authorize device acquisition, covert monitoring, system intrusion, unrestricted data collection, automated guilt scoring, legal conclusions or unreviewed disclosure. Applicable privacy, employment, evidence, cybersecurity, procurement, records, cloud, cross-border and sector requirements must be confirmed for the actual system and jurisdiction.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Translate investigative, legal, security and reporting needs into a controlled case-management architecture and requirements specification.
2. Design traceable workflows for intake, evidence, tasks, interviews, issues, decisions, reporting, remediation and closure.
3. Evaluate analytics, automation and artificial-intelligence use through documented purpose, validation, human review and limitation controls.
4. Assess security, privacy, interoperability, resilience and vendor risks across the investigative-technology lifecycle.
5. Develop an implementation and assurance plan using tested configuration, migration, access, audit, continuity and improvement evidence.
