Course purpose
This Advanced course equips governing bodies and senior sponsors to oversee investigations without compromising independence, confidentiality, fairness or evidence. Learners design an investigation-governance operating model; allocate authority among board, committee, management, counsel and investigation leaders; assess conflicts, competence, access and resources; prioritize portfolios; interpret case information and metrics; establish escalation and communication protocols; and oversee regulatory, disclosure, accountability, remediation and residual-risk decisions. The course distinguishes strategic oversight from operational interference and uses a guided capstone to integrate portfolio and high-risk case decisions. It does not provide legal advice, create privilege, determine disclosure or self-reporting duties, direct disciplinary outcomes or authorize external contact. Current law, constitutional documents, sector rules, contracts and competent advisers govern each organization.
